Week 1 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Friday
Patriots QB Tom Brady (calf, questionable) returned to take limited reps Friday after missing practice Thursday and is questionable for Week 1. Brady is good to go for the Dolphins
Panthers QB Cam Newton (ribs, questionable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 1. Given all the time that Newton missed in the preseason, this is not a good situation heading into Week 1 against an improved Tampa Bay defense. Newton is trending the right way, but is no sure thing to play. Kelvin Benjamin doesn't look like a good start if Newton is out. Derek Anderson would get the start.
Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 1. Romo is in for a not-so-great matchup with the 49ers.
Raiders QB Matt Schaub (right elbow, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 1. Derek Carr gets the start for the Raiders.
