Waiver Wire Watch: Week 14

M. Moore

By John Paulsen, Contributing Editor

Week 14 marks the start of the fantasy playoffs in most leagues, so the competition on the waiver wire is likely to drop as half of the owners in your league pack it in for the year. If you made the postseason, your team is probably in good shape, but there's always an opportunity to shore up a weakness or add depth for the playoffs.

Let's take a look at the top waiver wire pickups for Week 14:
Redskins QB Rex Grossman ($3)
Yes, Grossman was brutal against the Jets, but most QBs are brutal against the Jets. His upcoming schedule is very favorable -- the Patriots and Vikings are in the top 5 in most Adjusted FP allowed to QBs, while the Giants are also pretty generous in that category.
Next up: Patriots, Giants, Vikings
Dolphins QB Matt Moore ($3)
Moore now has three solid fantasy outings in a row and has three below average pass defenses to close the season. He's not a start without risk, but if you are hurting at QB, you could do a lot worse than Moore to close the season.
Next up: Eagles, Bills, Patriots
Vikings QB Christian Ponder ($1)
Ponder has thrown for 778 yards and six TDs in his last three games. He has the struggling Lions this week and the Saints in Week 15.
Next up: Lions, Saints, Redskins
Texans QB T.J. Yates ($1)
He is going to lose Andre Johnson for a couple of weeks, but with the Panthers and Colts in Weeks 15-16, Yates should be a decent (albeit unexciting) start in the fantasy playoffs.
Next up: Bengals, Panthers, Colts
