Offseason Quarterback Shuffle
There has been a lot of quarterback movement so far this offseason, and there are a few other moves that could still happen, but for now remain hot rumors. As a dedicated fantasy football GM, you’ve probably at least followed the moves. But, here at 4for4.com, we’re ready to break down what they could mean for your fantasy roster this fall, even though that’s still months away. Let’s take a look at some of the moves…
Seahawks trade for Charlie Whitehurst
So who is Charlie Whitehurst? If you aren’t familiar, he’s been San Diego’s third string QB since 2006. This maybe says a lot about teams being desperate to find guys who can play the position. With Seneca Wallace gone in a trade, Whitehurst becomes the backup to Matt Hasselbeck in Seattle. We don’t know a lot about him statistically, other than he has two attempts for 13 yards and a TD. Hasselbeck wasn’t exactly a fantasy stud last year, so owning Whitehurst isn’t a priority now. But given Hasselbeck’s injury issues, Whitehurst will probably see some time next year. However I wouldn’t put him in my draft plans just yet.
Cardinals sign Derek Anderson
With Kurt Warner retired, Matt Leinart becomes the guy and Anderson was brought in to be the backup. Leinart has yet to prove himself, but you wouldn’t know that by the talk surrounding him these days as he’s getting all kinds of votes of confidence. The talent he inherits is certainly enough for any QB to succeed, but in case he doesn’t, Anderson might get a shot. Anderson is still riding his great season in 2008 when he threw 29 TDs and 3,787 yards. The Arizona QB situation will directly affect Larry Fitzgerald and now number-two Steve Breaston.
