DAY BARGAINS 8/18/2009 |
Regardless of how you feel about a viable player, at some point in your draft,
that player becomes a decent pick --- a bargain! At the right price, all viable
NFL starters have Fantasy value.
The
goal is to draft a highly targeted and valued Fantasy starter just in time (as
late as possible, but always before a competitor beats you to the punch).
Below we share a few of our favorite draft day bargains.
Thomas Casale: I think Matt Schaub is one of the biggest values at any position this season. In my opinion, the Texans will have the top ranked offense in the NFL this year, which means Schaub could lead all fantasy quarterbacks in production. While everyone is drooling over Drew Brees, who I believe will be this year's biggest fantasy bust, I will be targeting Schaub in every one of my fantasy leagues. His average draft position of 65 makes Schaub this year's biggest fantasy steal in my opinion.
Greg Alan: The Texans have a respectable offensive line and Schaub has some highly talented and fairly undervalued weapons in Steve Slaton, Owen Daniels, Kevin Walter and of course all-world WR Andre Johnson. Last year, before his injury, Schaub was on pace to be a Top-5 Fantasy QB. And while he has missed 10 games over the last few seasons, Id be willing to take a chance on Schaub after 60 players are off the draft board. At that point his upside potential easily outweighs his downside risk. Bottom line? Load up on stud RBs and WRs early and take a chance on Schaub down the line.
