CAN YOU SPOT NFL VALUES?
Do you think Jaguars QB David Garrard is a bargain this year?
Recall, at the right price, all viable NFL starters become a fantasy value.
For $4-million, some see Garrard as a bargain in 4for4.com's Free Subscriber Contest.
With a revamped offensive line, Garrard should have more time in the pocket this year. In addition, Torry Holt's arrival in Jacksonville gives Garrard a highly accomplished and talented go-to-guy, something he's lacked in the past.
If you take a quick look at David Garrard's Player Page, you'll see a graphic showing just how good he did last year and you'll quickly spot his color-coded slam-dunk games this year.
Still not that excited about Garrard?
Perhaps for $7-million, Denver's rookie RB Knowshon Moreno might be more to your liking.
Moreno was the first RB selected in the 2009 NFL Draft.
Broncos new Head Coach Josh McDaniels, talking about Moreno said: "He's very elusive and can do a lot of things in every phase of our game; running, passing, blocking. And that will allow him to be on the field as much as he can be."
With the loss of QB Jay Cutler, Denver will lean on their running game more than ever. And while rookies can be hit-or-miss, history shows the first RB taken in the NFL draft typically delivers.
By way of comparison, the Steelers Willie Parker and the Cardinals Chris Wells also both go for 7-million.
At WR, for 5-million, the Rams Donnie Avery, could be a steal.
Heading into his second season, word is Avery has worked hard to improve his hands and route running. Plus, the Rams new West Coast scheme should maximize his skills.
With Torry Holt now in Jacksonville, the Rams see Avery as their go-to receiver.
And while the Rams offensive line is still a problem, Mark Bulger's quick release should reach Avery on short slant routes.
Other $5-million receivers include the Bengals WR Laveranues Coles, NYJ Jerricho Cotchery, SF rookie Michael Crabtree and longtime GB veteran Donald Driver.
So who do you like in this group?
